The following flies are my favourite for carpflyfishing. Flyfish them slowly sinking or sometimes floating. Succes!!

Carp on fly - catched 5 July 2008 - nearby Zwolle, the Netherlands. I had another 2 hookups, one of them was real big - around 30/35 pound - this time they fooled me - catch & release of course.

Fly: yellow egg
Weather: 24 degrees Celcius, sun.
Time: 13.50

Yesterday evening I was at a lake nearby for a couple of hours. Walking together with my dog and the #3 rod, suddenly little flies started rising in such numbers it looks like white snow. The perch noticed that and it was grazy. I catched lots of them, some nice ones, but mostly small perch. Hereby one of them…

Because my #7 rod is broken, I have only my #5 rod for a couple of weeks. On sundaymorning I had some time left, but didn’t know what to do…A what the ###% I will try to catch some carp with my #5 rod (and hope they are not too big)

First I flyfished with a white salmonegg, but they were not interested. So after half an hour I changed my fly into a yellow one. I saw a big wave in the surface and cast the fly for about one meter in front of the fish. Slluuuuurp he took it and I saw everything, so beautiful, let the fight begin…

IN MEMORIAM WIM MAURER.

Man wat heb ik gelachen met hem, overal kwamen we elkaar tegen en dan met name de laatste jaren. Enkele weken terug zwaaide en toeterde ik nog in mijn auto toen ik langs Otter reed en hij juist van zijn brommertje stapte om de zaak in te gaan. Enkele weken daarvoor spraken we elkaar bij een haventje in de buurt. Ook kwam hij wel eens langs in de polder van Mastenbroek, waar hij nog wel eens een fotootje maakte van een zojuist gevangen snoek, of daar aan die prachtige ijssel, bij zwolle, bij kampen, overal toefde hij heen…ik zal hem missen.

Afgelopen zondagavond rond 19.00 uur is Wim Maurer overleden aan de gevolgen van een hartstilstand. Wim is slechts 52 jaar geworden, wat me direct bij het overlijden van mijn moeder brengt. Het is al weer iets meer dan 2 jaar geleden, maar ook zij ging zo vroeg in haar leven. Gelukkig is Wim heengegaan zonder een langdurige ziekte. En zo stil als hij soms kon zijn, met een glimlach op zijn gezicht, zo stil is hij nu heengegaan. Ik zal je missen Wim!

Yesterday my friend Thomas catched a real nice big carp (29 pounds), nice work man!!
